چکیده

There is considerable evidence that differentiating cells are the most sensitive of all cells of the living organism. When embryos are x-irradiated at sublethal levels and subsequently studied histologically it is found that the regions showing the greatest radiation damage, as indicated by pycnotic nuclei, do not necessarily correspond with embryonic areas known to have a high mitotic index at the time of irradiation but rather with sites of active differentiation. The fact that the central nervous system has a protracted period of differentiation has been given as one of the reasons why it exhibits the most frequent and extensive damage following x-irradiation of embryos.' Previous studies on embryonic and larval amphibians have indicated that cardiac muscle is relatively radioresistant. 9' However, these earlier studies did not deal with the effects of x-irradiation at specific stages of cardiac development. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to determine the effects of x-irradiating embryos at successive stages of cardiac differentiation.

O-8: Critical Role of Hyaluronan System in Pre-Implantation Embryo Development and Establishment of Pregnancy

Background: Hyaluronan (HA) is a structural component of extracellular matrix synthesised by HA synthases HAS1-3, which produce HA of different molecular sizes with distinct biological functions associated with reproductive processes. Hyaluronidase (HYAL) cleaves the HA into biologically active small fragments which are known to regulate cell proliferation through CD44 receptor signaling. HA is...

The Effects of Progesterone on Oocyte Maturation and Embryo Development

Oocyte maturation and embryo development are controlled by intra-ovarian factors such as steroid hormones. Progesterone (P4) exists in the follicular fluid that contributes to normal mammalian ovarian function and has several critical functions during embryo development and implantation, including endometrial receptivity, embryonic survival during gestation and transformation of the endometrial...

The effects of dimethyl sulfoxide and ethylene glycol as vitrification protectants on different cleavage stages of mouse embryo quality

The effect of modified vitrification was assessed on cellular development capability in mouse embryos cultured in vitro. In this study, 466 embryos (from zygote to morula stages) were vitrified then thawed embryos have been incubated for in vitro farther development up to blastocyst stage. Also, vitrification and thawing procedures were the same for all experimental groups. Mouse different embr...

P-26: The Effect of Zygote and 2-cell Development Stages on Vitrification Process of Mouse Embryo

Background: While it is possible to routinely cryopreserve embryos from several mammalian species, the cryopreservation of embryos has largely been limited by their high sensitivity to chilling injury. Many factors such as the stage of embryonic development, cryoprotectant toxicity, the composition of the vitrification solution and cooling and warming rates can influence survival of embryos aft...

Application of Embryo Rescue Technique in Juglans regia L. x J. nigra L. Hybridization

Embryo culture were used to produce inter specific walnut hybrid plants between Juglans nigra L. and J. regia L. Developed ovaries were collected from J. rejia female flowers which were pollinated with J. nigra pollen grain by high dusting on a mature tree. In order to isolate embryos, exocarps were aseptically removed. Isolated embryos from ovules at different developmental stages were transfe...
